Brown paper packages tied up with string

Brown paper packages, tied up with string really are a few of our favourite things.  Every year over 227,000 miles of wrapping paper is thrown away. And if it has foil, sparkles, glitter and sticky tape, it can't be recycled! So we've been a little creative with ideas on how you could have a more eco-conscious Christmas.

We selected fresh greenery from the garden; Ivy, cuttings from the Christmas tree and a few Holly sprigs.  We also popped to our local florist for thistles and gypsophila which we think adds a lovely snowy effect and some roses.

All the paper we used is either craft or tissue paper and we tied the parcels with brown or white string.

The pine cones were foraged from our local woods, and dried on a baking tray in a low oven for about an hour.
