The UK’s very first virtual Harvest Festival
On the 9th of October 2020, we partnered with The Wildlife Trusts, Eco-Schools and pop-sensation-come-farmer JB Gill to host the UK’s first ever virtual harvest festival. This was in response to the Coronavirus pandemic which had prevented the traditional school Harvest Festival.
With the help of our friends mentioned above we set out to teach the nation’s next generation what it takes to grow the food we all love and enjoy so much.
We all know that “without rain, there would be no flowers”, but did you know that without a rich variety of nature, we’d have no food?
We work with The Wildlife Trusts, LEAF and our 34 Oat farmers to protect the incredible nature we have in the British countryside. From bees to brown hares, barn owls to butterflies, our farmers and The Wildlife Trusts make sure there is food and shelter for them all. And it all adds up. Currently, our farmers carefully manage 4,200 acres of land for wildlife. That’s enough space to play 4,200 football matches all at once!
Help your school or kids find out more about what it takes to grow and harvest our food whilst protecting nature.
